Mellel docx support3/25/2023 ![]() When typewriters were invented, they were considered the only tool that a writer needed to write professionally. ![]() But we never think of it that way.įor a long time, a pen and notebook were all you needed, to write. Plumbers have it, carpenters do, and so do the surgeons and artists. Overall I definitely feel lighter with Mellel - like driving a sports car exactly where you want to go with precision.Every profession has tools of the trade. Then for the finale enjoy it on iPad, tweaking bits at your leisure. And allowed visibility of the final complex 2 column document!Īll I would say is -spend time with mellel on the desktop to understand the functions -Familiarise with what is actually does. Allowed me to focus and add to what I got. Basically mellel took me where I wanted to go. Quickly through adding outline structure, I was able to get that mellel document navigable. Yesterday I through 500 pages of content. To add to this Mellel has tags that appear in the outline. I’m SO happy I decided to use mellel for longer !!! Through the way the control panel is structured and the way your tweaks can echo through the whole document, you nail those big complex documents in a jiffy, and don’t get distracted because of search and outline features. Whereas mellel goes the extra mile with real time formatting. A big win to the finish line has to be avoiding formatting when you get home for the day! To illustrate that feeling of control over the destiny of your writing piece - consider scrivener is great and you can do what you want, but there’s all that compiling. Simple blogs okay, but more complex formatting, choose Mellel. Oscillate back and forth between markdown and final. Unfortunately you waste time as you do that fiddle. Then a month a go I realised all of this markdown business was problematic because a lot of fiddle was left to do with formatting, when you think you’ve finished the writing. Went back to scrivener, ominoutiliner, word, ulysses … so here is why mellel is a topper in my experience : I sat on Mellel for a year.Played with Desktop app. I’ve written for a long time - and I couldn’t sit back and watch the greatest word processor get missed. (it is painful to use this noise free iPad environment as it doesn’t have enough obvious controls - I love it, but I needed the LESSON OF USE OF MELLEL from the Mac app first) once you’ve been through this above process, how to use both will be resolutely clear. TIP: USE THE MELLEL MAC APP FIRST …put the resulting file in iCloud. But those customers can already get Pages for free. Spell checker does not work and I cannot seem to find a setting to turn it on (works in my other apps as well as in the App Store text editor into which I am inputting this very text).Īt this point I can only recommend this app if you are not invested in existing custom Mellel styles from the Mac and are only looking for a competent editor. This is not a big deal but shouldn't be a lot to ask.ĥ. Some fonts that I have installed on my iPad and that work fine with Scrivener and MS Word for iOS and that I use in my Mellel style set on the Mac will not load in the iOS app. This app needs a a full screen mode that removes either (or both) of the annoying toolbars.ģ. I don't need to know the title of my document or to see that thick top bar all the time. Smart inverted commas do not even exist in the symbol menu and require an annoying keyboard shortcut: option + shift +. Smart quotes and inverted commas should be the default for fonts that support them! Currently smart quotes can only be achieved through the fiddly symbol (omega) menu. However, I am not entirely impressed with the execution here.ġ. Not the smooth on-the-go transition I expectedĪs an avid Mellel + Bookends for Mac user and a longtime user of Bookends for iPad, I thought that adding Mellel to my iPad would be a good idea for editing documents on the go.
